The Art of True Seasonality in Craft Beer

Posted on Posted in Beers, Craft Beer, History of Beer, Seasonality in Craft Beer

At Red Rhino, we believe beer should tell the story of the season it’s born in. But what does that mean in today’s craft beer landscape?

Remember when pumpkin ales were the bold newcomers? Now, we’re seeing “seasonal” beers defy their own seasons – winter brews in spring, pumpkin ales in July. It’s made us reect on what authentic seasonal brewing means.

Our latest release, the Pumpkin Jaggery Ale (5% ABV, 15 IBU), embodies our commitment to genuine seasonality. By combining traditional pumpkin ale characteristics with local jaggery, we’re capturing autumn’s essence in a glass.

But this goes beyond one brew. It’s about respecting:

The natural harvest cycle
Traditional brewing calendars
Consumer anticipation
Quality over availability

When you articially extend a seasonal beer’s availability, the point of seasonal brewing is missed entirely.

That’s why at Red Rhino, each seasonal release honours its moment in time. Because some things are worth waiting
for.
